With the closing of the fun for dogs Bockland dog park in Lagoa, Algarve, we felt the need to reopen with a new management. The idea of having a place where dogs can meet and play without worries, still watched by dog lovers and even learning a trick, we couldn’t let that go away.
With our hearts and minds we will continue what Marcelo and João and Bock started, a dog park and day care with fun for all. Including our small snack bar, where dog parents can enjoy a drink and a snack while keeping an eye on the four legged fun.

At The Barking Lote your dog not only makes new friends to play with, there are also toys to use and chew, treats to earn when learning new tricks and corners to rest.
Our four legged guests are always supervised and if one wants to play rough, well there is always the penalty box for a couple of minutes to cool off.
And if you like to watch all the fun that happens, we have a little snack bar offering drinks and snacks for our guests drivers.
Summer fun for dogs while the Algarve beaches are closed for our furry friends
During the hot time of the Algarve we have our doggy pool open, which is a great spot to cool off and play.
The dog park’s play area has a sunshade, protecting our little friends from the hot summer sun and small pools with fresh water are always available for taking a dip and to cool down those tired paws.
While we always encourage play, we also make sure that our furry guests have their rest time, especially during the heat period.
Safety and Health
The Barking Lote Lagoa requires all participating dogs to be up-to-date on specific core vaccinations to protect the health of all animals.
Required vaccinations include rabies, distemper (DHPP/DHLPP), and bordetella (kennel cough).
Proof of Vaccination at first visit and registration: Owners must provide documentation (Vaccination Book) from a veterinarian showing current the vaccination status.
Spay/Neuter Status: The Barking Lote requires dogs over a certain age (e.g., one year) to be spayed or neutered. Female dogs in heat are not allowed to participate.
Health Status: Dogs must be healthy and free from contagious conditions, including fleas and ticks.
Parasite Prevention: Maintaining year-round parasite prevention and regular fecal testing for intestinal parasites is highly recommended for all social dogs

- 1 Hour Play Area & Pool – 6€/h (Owner must be present) – no extra charge after the second hour.
- Day Care Half Day 15€ – for up to 4 hours independent drop-off time within opening hours.

First time visit and registration at “The Barking Lote” dog park Lagoa
Visiting The Barking Lote dog park for the first time the check-in will start with some questions about your four legged family member and also a necessary check of the vaccination book (so please don’t forget to bring).
This is followed by an evaluation of your dogs behavior towards us and his future play buddies. Also, and most important….. if our future guest like treats…. 😉
The first time registration fee is 20€ and includes all needed steps towards admittance and 4 hours of play time. And treats, of course.
